The largest community East of Houston is Baytown. The City of Baytown was formed by the consolidation of three earlier communities: Goose Creek, Pelly, and East Baytown. Both the Battleship Texas State Historic Site and the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site are located in Far East Houston (Baytown) as well as other entertainment facilities. For the most part, however, Far East Houston is home to much of Texas’ oil and petrochemical manufacturing facilities, including ExxonMobil and many others. Baytown’s website says it’s the place where oil and water really do mix, and being so close to the Gulf that just has to be true!
Far East Houston is accessible by I-10, with Spur 330 connecting the interstate to Baytown.
Homes in Far East Houston are widely available with variety to suit almost any taste. Rents range from under $1,000 to $2,500/mo. while single family homes, townhouses, and condos are available for less than $100,000 to upwards of $800,000. Also, the area has several estates available with acreage.
