North Houston is an interesting mix of neighborhoods. West of I-45 is one of the area’s hottest: The Heights*. East of I-45 is another part of the city where renewal is taking hold from Downtown northward.
This area is bounded by Shepherd Drive and US 59/I-69 (west and east, respectively) and by I-10 to the south an I-610 (North Loop) on the north side. There is easy access to all major freeways as well as Downtown.
Just about every type of home imaginable is available in North Houston.
The Heights has grand homes, renovated from original structures dating back to the 1930s.
East of I-45 home prices tend to be lower, particularly those closer to US 59. (This will change as neighborhood renewal continues to move north and east of Downtown.) Rentals range from below $1,000 to over $7,000 per month, while single family homes range from under $100K near US 59 to upwards of $1MM in The Heights.
