Cypress, about 25 miles northwest of Downtown Houston, is a relative newcomer to Houston’s suburbs. Until the 1980’s the area around Cypress (also known to locals as Cypress-Fairbanks or “Cy-Fair” for short) was rural and agricultural. Further development has resulted in tremendous growth in residential property and services business (restaurants, entertainment, shopping, and healthcare) to support those residents.
The Cy-Fair Independent School District is a high-quality system which draws people with school age children to the area.
Located along US 290, Cypress has easy access to all of the western metro area as well as the I-610 and I-45 to the east and I-10 to the south.
Rentals are plentiful in Cypress and range from less than $1,000-3,500/mo. Townhouses and condos are available from less than $100K to a high of about $240K. Single family homes–the majority by far–sell in all price ranges from below $100K to the low millions, and lots are available for custom built homes.
