Tomball offers the best of both country living and city life. Originally settled in the early 19th century, Tomball derived great benefit from the influence of founder Tom Ball for whom the town is named. He was able to have the Trinity and Brazos Valley Railroad routed through the center of town. A few years later in the early 20th century, about the same time as the Spindletop discovery in Beaumont, Tomball experienced an oil boom of its own. The influx of oil-related workers and related services brought tremendous growth to the area. After World War II, Tomball began yet a new era of growth when people who desired a more “country life” began moving there from Houston.
